..one nation, under Money..

It creates jobs, right?

Our pledge of allegiance is a lie. I apologize to you patriots out there in advance, because I'm definitely going to ruffle the feathers of your proud eagle. As an American Christian, read the pledge you have been reciting since kindergarten. Look at it and think about what the words REALLY mean.

I pledge allegiance
To the flag
of the United States of America
And to the republic
For which it stands
One nation
Under God
Indivisible
With liberty and justice for all.

Now tell me, HOW do these words come out of your mouth with a clear conscience? These words are a facade to mask an idolotrous nation which towers over the oppressed without any sort of morals or concern. These words are a dellusion. They are a beautifully and poetically twisted representation of this message:

I swear my devotion
to the colored piece of cloth
of the United States of America.
And also to capitalism
that this flag, this idol, represents.
An enslaved people
under money
that will never be freed
because wealth is so desired by all.

Giving our founding fathers the benefit of the doubt, this perhaps at one time was not the meaning behind those words. But it is the message today. The problem is that we Americans have been passed a curse that has been in existence since man was cast from the Garden. The curse is the desire of man to gain power for himself. That power has always been in the hands of the West. Why this power is a curse is because wealth comes along with it. People are enslaved by wealth and prosperity. We constantly crave it with all that we are. We are willing to kill those who want it from us and to trod over those who are hurting because helping them would mean less for us. America has become the West, and Americans have become the slaves of money.

I know you are probably thinking that I am being a little over-dramatic, but I'm not. You and I have been ensnared by this horrible trap and devoted our lives to a master who is not God. It is wrapped up to look pretty for us since childhood. We have been taught how it is important to serve your country and how we love freedom and liberty because we love God and He wants that for everyone. But have you noticed how God has been slowly pushed from the picture? To where it is no longer appropriate to talk about God in schools because it might offend people? Our country is no longer under God, people. Please open your eyes to the way Satan has sold us capitalism in a wrapping paper with a tag that says, "From God." Have you not forgotten that Satan is the master of lies?? He has decieved all of us. Look around you and see the ways that our slavery to money has scarred this world. Jesus warned us of this terrible curse and the false god we can be tricked into serving in his sermon on the mount:

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also... No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."
Matthew 6:21,24

WAKE UP, oh, children of God and break the chains that Money has on your life! Stop giving your life to it and this broken nation. Patriotism is idol worship. Stop serving yourself, and serve the lost people (whom God loves just as much as you) that our in this world! If you love this country, then stop focusing on the COUNTRY and start helping its PEOPLE. Don't you understand what God has and is calling you to do?

I am TIRED of seeing people deliberate over which shoes they should wear today when millions of our brothers and sisters are in rags.
I am TIRED of hearing people complain about there being nothing good to eat when there are little children scrounging through a dump in Honduras for scraps of food to survive.
I am TIRED of seeing people buying bottled water because they dont like the taste of their clean tap water when millions have no access to even a drop of clean, safe water.
I am TIRED of hearing people complain about their bordom with their media rooms and xbox's when there are orphans locked away in warehouses and people in dark prisons for thier faith in Jesus Christ.
I am TIRED of seeing people building bigger and fancier houses for themselves when there are 15-year-old girls raising two of their own children on a mattress in the crawl space under another person's house.
I am TIRED of us spending so much money on five swimming pools infront of our multi-million dollar beach condos because we dont like swimming in the ocean which God created for us.

Do you see the problem in the way that we Americans live our lives? Saying that you love America and its liberty and justice is a JOKE if you are a Christian. Do you think God is satisfied with you seeing the hurt and need around this world and your response is, "Thank God I live in America."? NO! I am ashamed of all the times that I responded to the poverty around this world by just going back to my greedy little life and saying my thanks to God. Can you not imagine how disgusted He must be with us? And whats worse is that we are not cut off from people in need by being in America. Its not like all the needy people are in some far away place that we dont have to think about! The U.S. has its share of homeless and starving people. How can we be so ignorant as to think that we dont have to do anything about this??

Please get rid of the greed and idolatry in your life. Throw down your chains that you cling to. Jesus has already severed them for us! We just need to stop holding on to them. And don't think that God is not calling you as a Christian to let go of the treasures you have stored up on earth. If you want to serve God, you HAVE to let go of money. "All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need." (Acts 2:44-45) We need to do something about this. We as followers of Jesus Christ and children of God cant just sit by in our luxury and watch our brothers and sisters cry out for help. Think about the way money has replaced God in your life and do something about it. Do something radical. God is going to provide for you. Stop trying to do it for yourself. Break the grip money has on you and give it to those in need. Lets move this country back to God, together.

How often do we as Americans love to overlook the story of the rich young man. He had kept all the commandments of God and came to Jesus asking how to gain eternal life. Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:21-23) So many times we shrug this story off because we aren't as rich as our neighbors down the street. So they need to go read this story. Shame on them...

WAKE UP! If you are an American you are RICH. Guess what? If you have a cell phone and you eat at least two meals a day, you are automatically wealthier than over 2 BILLION people on this planet that survive on less than $2 dollars a day. Not to mention all the other ammenities in our lives. Cant you see?? We are that young man! Jesus has told us a major obstacle that we have put before us and the gates of heaven, and how to get rid of that obstacle. And we either walk away sad or ignore what he has spoken. THAT is RIDICULOUS.

Money has no value except to glorify God.

Dont think that it is for no reason that you as a Christian have been born in the richest nation in the world. God has placed you here and blessed you NOT with the means to go buy stuff to make yourself comfortable, but with a means to glorify Him. That money in your bank account is NOT yours. He has made it clear what He wants you to do with His money. And do NOT think that there is no way that He would want you to sell all of your things for the poor. If you want to follow Jesus you have to be radical. You must be selfless in your devotion to bringing glory to the Kingdom of God.

So.. are you going to do what he is telling you to do and go follow him? Or are you going to walk away sad?

Capitalism promises a chance to have wealth and comfort for a short while in this life. Christianity promises no glamour and hardships in this life, but eternal glory with our Father in the next. You cant serve both, so choose. Where do you lay your pledge of allegiance?
